Climate Fair Futures is a small practice working with organisations, governments and communities to design fair, evidence-led responses to climate-induced Loss and Damage (L&D).

Climate Fair Futures responds to growing calls for greater efforts to assess, track, and address escalating climate-induced Loss and Damage (L&D) by harnessing a unique approach to methodological integration, knowledge creation and collaboration.
Accounting for uncertainty
Climate change impacts are being felt across the world and will continue to accelerate and intensify. Climate impacts occur along complex spatiotemporal scales that defy disciplinary boundaries and entails substantial uncertainty. Systems must be built flexibly to measure and address ongoing and future L&D.
Beyond disaster risk and adaptation
The adverse impacts of climate change are interconnected and cannot be confined to sectoral silos. L&D surpass the limits of conventional disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, necessitating systemic shifts and an integrative approach.
Navigating value trade-offs
Climate change affects both tangible and intangible assets with diverse value implications for people, the environment, and societies. Some losses and damages can be measured and quantified. Others must be accounted for in alternative ways. Only by engaging with those affected by climate change can L&D be defined, measured and acted on.

Evidence-generation
We match evidence-generating tools with the priorities and needs of knowledge holders and custodians. We work with our clients to generate credible and targeted L&D evidence using scientifically robust, inclusive tools and building transparent data systems, balancing functionality with needs. Properly curated, evidence makes visible the experiences of frontline countries and communities, informs responses, and guides resource allocation.
Knowledge co-production
Our approach centres on translating and integrating L&D knowledge through participatory, innovative multistakeholder engagement services and dialogue. We pay particular attention to the diverse forms of knowledge that underlie measurements, decision-making and action.
Capacity-mobilisation
We work across sectoral and disciplinary divides to mobilise capacities and expertise. Building on existing systems, networks and institutional knowledge, we collaboratively design tools and interventions with local communities, governments and organisations to effectively respond to different types of climate-induced L&D.
